Today’s project is a gorgeous watercolor emboss resist using the Brusho Crystal Colours that came out in the 2018 Occasions Catalog. These have been out for a few years prior to SU! adding them to their product line, but this is the first time I have had a chance to play with it. Oh my goodness! Let me tell you, they are SUPER addicting!! There is SO much you can do with this. BUT I will also tell you that if you are new to Brusho, you definitely need to sit down and play with it before attempting to make a card. Once you have the process down, it is easy to get lost in creating with it!!
For my cards, in addition to using the Brusho Crystal Colours, I tried it out with an emboss resist technique. I used the Beautiful Day stamp set for the sentiment and stamped it in VersaMark with Basic Black Archival Ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder on Vellum CS. The flowers were stamped with VersaMark and embossed using White Embossing Powder. I sprinkled the Gamboge Brusho Crystal Colour onto the flowers first, spritzed water, then allowed the color to soak into the watercolor paper. It’s hard to explain the whole process, SO make sure to watch the video tutorial below to see how I created the effect.

Your cards are wonderful, and I enjoyed the video. I appreciate all the details, even measurement! Thank you. You mentioned that you had trouble getting the crystals out through the holes in the top. I have one hole, and I’m not having a problem. I punched my hole with a plastic push pin, and the pin is used to keep the hole closed up when I’m not using the Brushos. I wonder if your multiple holes are allowing moisture into the jars so that it’s harder to get the crystals out. That’s the only thing I can think of that might cause that problem. Or maybe your labels are blocking the holes?

Firstly Jen, great sound (Thanks Jen’s hubby). Then great video tutorial, I would not have thought I would love the effect of Brushos as I do on the cards you have made Jen. I think it must be the single colour but as I said in your You Tube comment I am a bit of a control freak and I don’t like medium that I cannot control. Thank you for sharing your video tutorial with us crafters and I am sure that you will have many more crafters watching the effect you got with Brushos and how you achieved this effect. :O)

YAY!! I am pretty pleased with the sound from the new mic. Would love to upgrade to an even better one, BUT I’m sure that will be coming at a much later date! LOL Yeah, Brusho is a bit harder to control… still figuring out how to get just the right look with it. I do love the look of using just one color at a time. I can’t seem to get multiple colors to look right… just yet. Guess I need more practice! You are SO very welcome!
